BEFORE YOU APPLY
Please consider all aspects before applying to adopt a dog. Rescue dogs usually come with a few issues and we prefer applicants that have realistic expectations and dog experience. If you are first time dog owners and have small children, it is UNLIKELY that we will approve your application.
We prefer a physical fence in most cases but will consider this on a case by case basis.
Please read through all the information on our website before completing the application:
To adopt one of our beautiful dogs you MUST first complete our online application.
We do require an interview (sometimes we do this by phone) and a home visit may be required. We only adopt dogs to families who will keep them as inside pets. if you are not willing to work with your new rescue dog and let them get to know you at their own pace, please don't apply for one of our doodles. Returning a dog within 24-48 hours of picking it up is hard on the dog. Rescuing a dog is a lifetime commitment and if you give your all, you will get a great friend in return. They need time and patience.
Who We Are
IDOG Rescue is a program of the International Doodle Owners Group, Inc. The International Doodle Owners Group, Inc. is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) public charity group. IDOG has been offering rescue and rehome services to doodles, specifically labradoodles and goldendoodles, for 6-1/2 years now and we have helped over 1200 doodles in that time.
IDOG Rescue was the first breed specific rescue for Labradoodles and Goldendoodles and is endorsed by both the Australian Labradoodle Association of America and the Goldendoodle Association of America.
IDOG is an approved Rescue Partner in hundreds of shelters across the country and have an outstanding reputation for helping doodles in need, no matter what color, age or health status.
WE HAVE DOGS IN FOSTER HOMES ALL OVER THE CONTINENT - PLEASE SEE THE LOCATION LISTED IN THE DOG'S NAME.
In most instances, you will be required to live within driving distance of where the dog is located and to visit the dog in person.
WE DO NOT SHIP OR TRANSPORT DOGS UNLESS THIS OPTION IS STATED ON THE LISTING.
Shipping is stressful on the dog, and stressful for the volunteer who has to spend many hours preparing the dog and the paperwork, transporting and waiting at airports. It is not simply a matter of paying the shipping charge.
We will only ship a dog if we cannot find it a home where it is. The hardest dogs to place are BLACK MALES. We never have trouble placing blonde fluffy doodles, or puppies.
OUR ADOPTION DONATIONS RANGE FROM $100 - $750 depending on the dog. The following is a general guide, but each dog is assessed individually.
It currently costs us an average of over $300 for basic vet, grooming and foster care on each dog, but that does not allow for the ones who get sick, or are heartworm positive.
under 6 months $500 and up
6 months to 2 years $400 and up
2 years - 4 years $300 and up
4 years + $100 and up
Special Needs fee/donation assessed on individual basis
