Where Your Purchase Helps Support Rescue!

The Animals' Savior: I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter - the cast-offs of human society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal. And I was angry. "God," I said, "This is terrible! Why don't you do something?" God was silent a moment, and then He spoke softly. "I have done something," He replied. "I created you." ~ Jim Willis Copyright ? 1999

Who We Are

Our mission is to provide a loving and affectionate temporary home environment for dogs coming from unfortunate circumstances; be it a shelter, a puppy mill, or simply a home that can no longer care for them. Our primary focus is on small breeds and those with special medical needs that others can't accommodate. We will provide these animals with a safe stopping point on the way to their forever home. We also hope to educate on the value of spay/neuter in decreasing pet overpopulation and ultimately the killing of innocent animals, along with proper animal care and responsibility. Heaven can wait for those that we bring through our doors

We are only able to take in a few animals at a time to ensure proper health, socialization and the feeling of being members of our family. We will not take dogs with aggression towards people or other dogs. All fosters are kept in our home, trained, fully vetted, spayed/neutered, socialized and temperament tested. We feed only holistic, human grade pet food (Innova and Wellness).

PLEASE READ BEFORE FILLING OUT AN APPLICATION OR EMAILING US!! For each of our rescue angels, we require a non-refundable adoption donation to help defer the medical costs and more associated with the pet. The adoption donations typically run between $150 to $250, but special circumstances with each pet may cause a deviation from those amounts. The minimum adoption fee for any pet is $150. All dogs have 5-way DHLPP vaccinations, bordatella vaccination, neutering/spaying, one year rabies vaccination if old enough, three doses of worming medication, heartworm test, flea and heartworm prevention, one free month of pet insurance, and in most cases a professional grooming.
Adopting a dog starts with filling out an adoption application. References are checked, and a home visit is done. We will respond to all applications within 24 hours of receipt. You may NOT meet one of our rescue dogs without first having an approved application. Adopters must sign an adoption contract before taking home a pet. Please note- we do NOT adopt our rescues to homes that have unaltered (unspayed or unneutered) pets, pets not up to date on heartworm prevention and vaccines, dogs kept outdoors, or plans to keep the rescue pet outdoors. Please visit www.dogsdeservebetter.com for reasons why. We do NOT operate on a first come, first served basis. We pick the best home from the applications that we receive for each pet. We reserve the right to deny an application for any reason we see fit. You must be 21 years of age to adopt. Many of our dogs will not be adopted to homes with small children for the safety of the animal and the children- although it is case by case with each dog and is noted on their listing. Please understand that we have a process in place for the safety of the animals, and the foster parents since we do not have a shelter facility. These animals have usually come from a traumatic or neglectful situation and it is our responsibility to make sure that never happens to them again.
Finally, if you choose to adopt and you are approved, you have through the following weekend to pick up your new family member. We are unable to hold animals for any reason. Doing so hinders our ability to help other animals in need. We try when we can to assist with transporting rescues to their new families but expect the families to help with the MAJORITY of the transport. For some pets, we will require the adopter to travel to the foster home to meet the pet rather than have any transport set up. We do adopt out-of-state in most cases, however, the primary responsibility of the transport is the adopters. If, for any reason, you cannot keep your rescued pet, he or she must be returned to us.

BEFORE YOU ADOPT A FRIEND Are you ready to adopt? Wonderful! We want these pets to go to the best possible home, where love and care will be in abundance. So before you make that final commitment, remember that a pet is a companion for life, and you want to be sure that the time is right to bring a new friend into the family. If you're expecting a baby or you are a senior citizen, it's probably not a great time to adopt a puppy or high energy dog. We want you to adopt, but we also want it to be a choice you can live with for the rest of your four-legged companion's life. If you're interested in a particular pet, contact us with any questions you might have.
