Adopting A Friend

Adoptables affiliated with Feral Feline Project “From No Home to Your Home"

All of our cats and kittens have been screened and examined by our Licensed Veterinarians.  They all will be spayed and neutered before adoption.  This can be done safely by 8 weeks or 2lbs.  They are also tested for FIV and Felv, vacinatted for distemeper, Rabies ( no earlier then 12 weeks or 3 lbs per state Rabies guidelines), microchippped and registered, checked for fleas and treated and dewormed.  Adpoption fee for kittens under 6 mos is $175 & cats over 6 months is $150.   Adopt a pair?  Second kitten is reduced by $50 as an incentive to adopt 2!

Who We Are

Feral Feline Project was founded in June of 2007 by two heartfelt coworkers in Wheeling after several citizens were requesting help with their very large and growing feral cat colonies.  We knew of Spay and Stay of Lake County, another Trap Neuter Return (TNR) organization and with their assistance and guidance, we molded Feral Feline Project.

Along with the cooperation of a local vet and 2 new volunteers willing to transport cats to Anti Cruelty Society in Chicago, Feral Feline Project started to TNR.  We quickly realized there was a need that reached out farther than Wheeling, so we opened our door to everyone in Northern Cook County.  By the end of our first year we had purchased 30 traps, increased to an all volunteer staff of 7 and sterilized and placed close to 150 cats and kittens.   We adopt out about 150 cats and kittens each year.

Feral Feline Project does not take take too many owner "give ups" because we focus on rescuing friendly cats and kittens that have been abandoned or born outside. These abandoned cats will join a colony or live alone outside.  We make every attempt to remove these friendly, lost and abandoned cats and kittens for adoption.    We have 9 Licensed Foster Homes with the state and and a have a physical location within a PetSmart located at 700 N. Milwuakee Ave. Vernon HIlls, IL.  We also do shows on Saturdays between 12pm-3pm in PetSmart located at 101 E. Euclid Rd. Mt. Prospect (next to Randhurst Shopping Center).  Please stop in and see all of our kittens.

Feral Feline Project believes that every cat has a right to life, regardless if it is feral or domesticated.  We also believe that TNR is the most humane and effective method in reducing outdoor feral cat populations.  It is our mission to practice TNR in Northern Cook County and to educate the local villages and its citizens on the benefits of spaying and neutering outdoor cats instead of inhumanely euthanizing them.   Our vision is to one day drastically reduce suffering cats and kittens on the streets and have all the local villages adopt and practice TNR.   Please visit our website at feralfelineproject.org for more information.
