Who We Are

"The Humane Society of Logan County" is a 501(c)3 organization located in Lincoln, Illinois. We are committed to the prevention of cruelty, abuse and neglect of animals through its adoption program, cruelty investigations, spay/neuter assistance program, and humane awareness and education. In 2011, HSLC realized our long term goal to operate a shelter for homeless animals in Logan County, IL. We received a very generous gift of 2.5 acres of land along old Route 66 from the Burwell family. Funds were also received from the Ethel Hoeslscher Trust. In partnership with LTEC, building trades at LCHS, construction on the shelter began August 30, 2010 and was completed May 2011. We are a low kill shelter. This means we will euthanize animals only in extreme situations involving serious illness or injury when it is determined that such action is the most humane treatment.

Adopting a friend

We have tried to make adopting a forever friend fairly simple while still trying to make sure we have the right home. You can contact us about the animals listed on this site to find out more about them and their individual needs. You are welcome to visit the animals at HSLC during business hours. Once that happens we have a short application for you to fill out to make sure your home is the right one for that particular animal. When it is determined that it is the right home we have an adoption contract to sign and then the adoption fee is $97.00 for dogs and $50 for cats. Senior pets ( 7 years or older) are $40.00 for dogs and $30.00 for cats. The fees include spaying/neutering, all of the vaccinations, heart worm test, and feline leukemia test. A complete list of fees can be found on our website,

How you can help!

We are currently in need of those that would be willing to be a foster parent. There is a simple application that can be obtained on our website We are also in need of those that would simply support a foster animal by donating money to help cover their cost while they are in foster home, including but not limited to advertising in local papers, supplies, and vet bills. All donations may be sent to Humane Society of Logan County P.O. Box 404 Lincoln, IL 62656
