Please help our homeless pets in need by adopting from Precious Pets Almost Home.
All of our cats and dogs are spayed or neutered, micro-chipped with an Avid I.D., de-wormed, de-flead, up to date on shots and treated for ear mites. Cats are tested for FIV/Leukemia. Dogs are Heartworm tested. Our modest adoption fee is $100.00 for cats and $250.00 for dogs (unless otherwise noted). Some purebred cats or dogs may have a higher adoption fee. Please understand that the higher adoption fee for certain purebred animals allows us to rescue more animals and it is still much, much less than what you would pay a breeder or pet store! PPAH reserves the right to approve or decline any adoption applications that do not meet the organization'??s adoption criteria, as determined in its sole discretion.
Precious Pets Almost Home is a rescue group/foster home program comprised of dedicated individuals that are joined together by their compassion and love for homeless cats and dogs!
We are an all-volunteer organization. We do not receive any federal, state or city funding. All of our support comes from concerned and involved individuals like you that share our compassion and love for cats and dogs in need of permanent, loving homes. Precious Pets Almost Home Association is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All donations are fully tax-deductible and are used to provide care for our animals, as we have no paid staff.
We are a no-kill shelter and provide the best medical care available. By the time they’re ready for adoption, our animals have been fixed, vaccinated, virus-tested, de-wormed, received flea/ear mite treatment, and micro-chipped. If they are in need of any other medical care, it is provided.
We have been rescuing, vetting, and re-homing cats and dogs for over 15 years, providing what we hope is the perfect family for them. Our animals come to us from many sources, but all are in need of a permanent home. While one of our goals is to bridge the gap from homeless and forgotten to cherished family member, most of all, we want to wave good-bye with a tear in our eye as they leave us to go home with their new family. Our precious pets are healthy, happy, warm, well fed, and loved while in our care.
Like many non-profit organizations, volunteers are an integral part of our establishment and we rely heavily on their support and hard work. The following is a list of Precious Pets Almost Home volunteer opportunities.
SHELTER CARE: Feed and care for our feline population and maintain the cleanliness of our adoption showcase center. Give personalized time and attention to each cat. Interact with the public in order to encourage pet adoption, generate new volunteers, and promote awareness of our rescue and its mission. Our adoption showcase centers are located in the Petsmart on Elston & Logan, Petco Halsted (Halsted & Barry) and Petco South Loop (611 W Roosevelt Rd). We are in need of volunteers for all locations. Schedules are very flexible.
PET PROMO - ADMINISTRATIVE: Help PPAH from the comfort of your own home and in your pjs if you like. We’re looking for volunteers to help draft pet bios and update pet profiles on search sites such as Petfinder. This person would post similar content to our FB page in order to generate interest in adoptable pets as well as search for and post interesting/entertaining/relevant articles to FB. If time and willingness provides, we would also love assistance keeping the website more up to date. If this is something you would enjoy, please let us know!
FOSTER: Provide a caring, loving, and secure environment for homeless cat(s) or dog(s) until they are matched and adopted into a qualifying home. We are always in need of foster homes due to the overwhelming number of homeless cats and dogs.
SPECIAL EVENTS: We need assistance at special events throughout the year such as Photos with Santa, various pet expos, and adoption events at Petsmart and local pet boutiques. We also need assistance preparing for special events by posting flyers, procuring raffle and silent auction prizes, selling raffle tickets, etc.
PHOTOGRAPHER: Help us get our pets noticed on social media and in the news. Take pictures of our rescued cats and dogs and edit them to be used in print and web promotion and for adoption purposes.
To volunteer, visit our website www.preciouspetsalmosthome.org and download an application. Then fax the completed application to the number at the top or scan and email to email@example.com. Or email us and we'll send you an application to complete. Thank you!
We are a foster-based program.
To view our Precious Pets awaiting homes, review them here on Petfinder, visit our website (www.preciouspetsalmosthome.org), or check us out on Facebook. You can also stay tuned for information on upcoming adoption events to meet them in person. We do not have a shelter facility of our own. Some of our cats available for adoption reside at Petco Halsted & Barry, Petco South Loop, Petco Western at Roscoe, or Petsmart Elston. Many more are in loving foster homes waiting for space at the adoption center or adoption directly from their foster homes. Our foster dogs reside in foster homes only.
