Where to Find Our Pets...

A Caring Place holds routine showings of our dogs and puppies up for adoption at the PETCO of Downers Grove(1400F 75th Street, Downers Grove 60516) which is off of 75th Street in the Ultra Foods mall. Check our dog's bios for dates and times.

Please check the descriptions of the dogs on Petfinder to know if the dog you are interested in is confirmed for the dog showing. Please note that we do not perform same day adoptions of the dogs shown at Petco; part of our application process includes a required home inspection which is completed after our Adoption Application has been received and reviewed. Between our routine dog showings, we will show dogs by appointment once an application is received.

Donations Always Needed!

A Caring Place is always fundraising to subsidize our income due to extensive veterinary bills. Our adoption fees do not cover the costs of many of our animals, so we are always in need of donations. Please help the animals in our care by making a generous monetary donation to A Caring Place Humane Society. Please mail your contribution to us at P.O. Box 989, Westmont, IL 60559.

We are an Illinois not-for-profit corporation and a recognized 501(c)(3) charity so monetary donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. You can make a secure online donation right here through our PayPal account. Please consider helping us out.

Who We Are

A Caring Place - All Breed Dog Rescue is a charitable organization run entirely by volunteers. Our primary mission is to save the lives of abandoned and unwanted dogs and puppies by taking them into our adoption program. Since opening in 2002, A Caring Place has rescued and rehabilitated over 1400 cats and dogs and adopted them into loving, permanent homes. However, due to a necessary and difficult change in early 2012, we closed the cat program.

A Caring Place does not have a facility or kennel to house our animals. Instead, every rescued animal lives in a foster care providerís home until adopted. We do not set time limits for adoption nor do we euthanize due to old age or costly health care.

OUR MISSION

A Caring Place takes in animals from different sources including those relinquished by owners/guardians and good samaritans and makes them available for adoption. However, our primary source for animals are those at highest risk of being killed in animal control agencies, shelters both local and from other states, and veterinary offices due to lack of space or opportunity.

Adopting a Friend

Because most of the animals we take in have had at least one home already, we choose to adopt only to those individuals who provide a permanent, life-time commitment to an animal. A reasonable adoption fee is charged to help recover the costs of the medical care as well as the food and shelter provided to for the animal. If there is an animal you are interested in applying for, please contact us at 630-375-7976 or by sending an email. Please note that all household members must be present at the time of the adoption interview.

DOGS & PUPPIES:The adoption fee for adult dogs over twelve months of age is $300; puppies less than a year, purebred dogs, and non-shedding dogs are $350. Senior dogs over the age of 7 are $250. These prices are subject to change. All dogs and puppies will have received a general health exam, a heart worm test and preventatives or treatment, spay or neuter, worming, and microchip. Additionally, each dog will be current on inoculations against Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella [Canine Cough].

Volunteers Needed

Foster Care Providers for dogs/puppies are desperately needed. Foster care is a very rewarding experience for people and is especially beneficial to the animals this humane society takes into their adoption system. If you are one of those special people willing to open your heart and home to an animal in need and would like to receive information on how you can foster an animal, please contact us.
