Who We Are
Cat Guardians, Inc. is a non-profit shelter started in 1988 to help with the feline overpopulation and homelessness problem in DuPage County, Illinois. Cat Guardians specializes in cats rescued from the streets. Cat Guardians provides loving care, medical attention and socialization to these stray and unwanted cats so that they can be adopted by their forever homes. All our cats and kittens are fully vetted (spay/neuter, microchip, FIV/FELV blood test, innoculations and deworming ).
Our Featured Pet is Sequoia!
Sequoia is a playful, yet loving, and interactive boy. He’s enjoys chasing after a laser-dot, but when waiting for his turn to play, he’s usually laying in between your legs, all stretched out and seeking a rub down. He is affectionate and beautiful, loving and fun.
We have some kittens ready for adoption through the shelter. Due to the revolving nature of kittens, we may not have all available kittens listed on our website. Please visit the shelter on the weekends to see all the kittens available for adoption.
Adopting a friend
1. You must print out and fill out an adoption questionnaire
2. The shelter requires proof that you are able to have a pet in your home. If you are a renter, we must see a copy of your lease stating that you are allowed to have pets. If you are a homeowner, we need proof that you are currently making mortgage payments.
3. Adoption fees are $120 for all cats. It is a law in the state of Illinois that any animal adopted from a shelter must be spayed or neutered.
Fees include spaying/neutering, first vaccination, worming, feline leukemia-AIDS test, and microchipping.
4.When you come to take your new friend home, you must bring a sturdy carrier. We cannot let any cat or kitten leave the shelter unless it is safely secured. The cat carrier can serve several different purposes for your new friend. It can be its personal bed, and it can be used when taking the cat to the vet or other trips outside the house. Your cat will be much safer and happier in a carrier.
Finally, please allow 45 minutes for the adoption process. Regular shelter hours are Sat and Sun from 11am-3pm, and Tues from 4-8pm (closed holidays).
Your completed application will be reviewed by approved personnel and you will be contacted as soon as possible.
