As with any not-for-profit organization, we are always in need of cash donations to help keep up the proper standard of living for the animals in our care. We have had several abuse cases this year, which has stretched our resources. When you make a cash donation you help us to continue our lifesaving work. We always need puppy and dog toys, cat & kitten food (no food with RED dye please - we prefer Purina Cat & Kitten Chow or Purina One, stainless steel litter pans (steam-table trays work great), dog & puppy food (no food with RED dye please - we prefer Purina Dog Chow, or Puppy Chow, Purina ONE, Iams, Eukanuba, Science Diet or Pro Plan). We can always use donations of extra large trash bags, cleaning supplies, detergent, towels and "paper items" such as paper towels and toilet paper, newspapers, shredded paper, and any other items that can add to the comfort and care of our animals, especially blankets right now.
Since its incorporation as a not-for-profit in 1986, the MEHS has worked diligently to improve the lives of animals. A successful effort to stop animal exploitation and suffering provided the seed that grew into the MEHS. We currently serve a five county area in southwestern Illinois with an adoption program for homeless animals and an animal abuse/neglect investigation service. We are financially supported solely through the generosity of the public and we receive no financial support from taxes or the government. Our financial survival depends on generous donations from humane members of the public like you. If you'd like to make a donation, please send it to 8495 State Route 143, Edwardsville, IL 62025
Give us a call at 618-656-4405 to find out how to adopt from the MEHS! All of our cats and dogs are current on all shots, spayed or neutered, and microchipped before they leave the shelter. Our hours are Mon - Wed., Fri. and Sat. 11:30 to 5:00, Thurs. 11:30 to 6:00, and Sunday 11:30 to 3:00.
We need you! The MEHS is seeking volunteers to help us in improving the lives of animals. We are always in need of dedicated, reliable volunteers. How can you help? Volunteers at the MEHS help to provide basic animal care for the homeless animals of Jersey, Madison, St. Clair, Bond & Macoupin counties. The animals in our facility depend on us to provide them with a clean environment, food, water, medical care, love, and attention. Volunteers do a variety of tasks, from helping with special events to exercising and socializing the dogs and cats. There are many different volunteer possibilities available with MEHS. From Board member to kennel support, we'll match your skills with our needs. Give us a call at 618.656.4405, drop us an email at email@example.com, or come visit!
