Our Mission
The Mason City Stray Animal Shelter is co-located with and managed by the Humane Society of North Iowa. Â Together, both organizations provide top quality care for hundreds of animals each year! Â Our shelters are always in needs of volunteers to help us socialize and exercise our animals; please visit us anytime!
The Mason City Stray Animal Shelter takes in animals that are found as stray in the city limits of Mason City, IA. Animals are held for 7 days waiting for an owner to come claim them. Â If they are not claimed within 7 days, they are made available for adoption! Â
Many of the animals in the Mason City Stray Animal Shelter were once someone's pet and they are looking to be someone else's pet again! Â Come and meet all our animals and give a shelter pet a "new leash" on life!
Adoption Policy
The Mason City Stray Animal Shelter adopts hundreds of animals each year to loving, qualified homes. To adopt an animal from us, you are asked to submit an Adoption Application.
Adoption fee covers the following veterinarian services: spay/neuter surgery, all age appropriate vaccinations, flea and dewormer treatment, feline leukemia test in cats, heart worm test for dogs.

Felines:
Kittens (under 1 year): $150.00
Adult Cats: $125.00
Canines:
Puppies (under 6 months): $300.00
Adult & Puppies (over 6 months): $250.00
Have you found an animal you would like make your new best friend? GREAT! The next step is to fill out an Adoption Application. All of our Adoption Applications can be found on our partnering agency's website: www.hsni.org (under the tab called "Application Forms")
Animals that have come into the Mason City Stray Animal Shelter are held for 7 days to give an owner the opportunity to reclaim. If an animal is not reclaimed in 7 days, it is made available for adoption. We review all applications and select the home that will best fit an animal’s needs.
