Maxine was rescued from being a puppy mill momma. She's 6 years old and has lost 6 teeth but her others are good. She has come far in learning to be a pampered pet and potty training. She understands that outside is the place to go and no longer has indoor #2 accidents, but may have several #1 accidents a day. She walks well on a harness. She's has learned to "come" to her name, "sit" , "high five", "down" , "bed", "come" and "no". We are working on other commands as well. She is good with small dogs, big dogs, and cats. She comes to her foster parents for attention and enjoys snuggling in the evening. She has learned how to use a stool to get on the couch. She loves to play with paper products and chew on antlers. In the evening she gets the "zoomies" and runs around the house with purpose instead of pacing like when she first arrived. She is coming along nicely.> COME SEE SOME OF OUR DOGS THIS We will be at Petco in Omaha at 72nd and Dodge December 19th from 11am -2pm.
We have more dogs needing homes then we have foster homes. If you are interested in helping a dog in need please email us. WE NEED FOSTER HOMES. We have a few dogs that come from large breeding kennels. They were scared when they arrived but are do WONDERFUL in their foster homes. It is such a joy to watch them learn to play for the first time with toys or learn the pleasure of a gentle touch. We are happy to help them start their new life and help find them "forever homes". We have a few dogs from local over crowded shelters.
We are a "network" of rescuers in the Midwest. Many of us have known one another for years from helping with various local rescue groups, shelters, and national breed rescue groups. All of us have had the experience of coming across a dog that needed help that didn’t have a rescue group that could take them into their program. We were finding that regardless of breed or whether a dog is "purebred", there are many of us out there who wanted to help these dogs and need a place to list them. Therefore, we decided to start Midwest Dog Rescue Network to help rescuers help dogs that would otherwise "fall through the cracks". We are a collection of rescuers and some good-hearted individuals, who are just trying to help as many good dogs find homes as possible. We are an all volunteer, all donation funded registered 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization
ALL our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped prior to adoption. Please contact us if you are interested in one of our dogs and we will send you a questionnaire to fill out so we can get to know you better. Since all our dogs are in foster homes, we will then put you in touch with the appropriate foster parent so you can find out more about the dog of interest.
WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. ALL OF OUR DOGS ARE IN PRIVATE FAMILY HOMES. If you have an animal control problem please call 402-444-7800. We do not have a shelter but foster out of our home, and the homes of many wonderful friends! If you are interested in one of our dogs, please contact us. Looking for a specific breed that you just can't find? Have you checked your local shelter? More than 1 out of 3 dogs in shelters are "purebred" . Many shelters rely on volunteers to update their websites and they might not always be current. Go visit your local shelter- you never know what you might find! Or contact us and we'd be happy to help you find a breed rescue group in your area! . Please do not contact us if you are looking for a dog that you plan to leave outside in a kennel or in a garage or patio, we will not adopt to you. We are looking for homes that are looking for pets to be a part of their family.
