Our Featured Pet... Taffy!

Taffy is an 8 yr old, spayed female lap cat who would love to have a person of her own. She'd make an excellent companion for an older person or someone who is home alot. She is very talkative and affectionate!

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization so any donations are tax deductible! Donations (we always have a lot of items on our wish list) and volunteers are always needed and welcomed!**** Please,Please be very careful when surrendering your unwanted pet to a rescue or shelter! Make sure the facility is state accredited and walk thru it 1st to see for yourself the conditions the animals are kept in! Any animal stands a much better chance of finding a new family if it has already been altered and is current on vaccinations! Many shelters have an 'open door' policy on surrenders but what this really means is overcrowded conditions, a high kill rate and sometimes even sub-standard care for those that remain! Awesome spay and neuter video! Check it out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMzW3LIkNLA a "It is conceivable that almost every animal that ends up in pounds, shelters and rescue is a direct result of a guardian who didn't make a life-time commitment of care and protection! "(Quoted from the No Kill Now website) Don't breed or buy..while shelter pets die! Be a part of the solution! BE RESPONSIBLE...SPAY AND NEUTER!!!!

Who We Are

H.E.A.R.T is state inspected and licensed and we are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We are a small group of friends who are trying to do what we can to promote spay and neuter, educate the public, practice Trap, Neuter, Return of feral cats, rescue and rehome abandoned and unwanted animals, reunite lost pets with their owners and prevent cruelty and neglect. We do this out of our homes with very limited resources, no outside funding and little community support. No animal is ever 'put to sleep' to make room for another! All pets are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites, fully vetted, dogs heartworm tested and cats are FIV/FeLV tested prior to adoption. Keep in mind we are a rescue...not breeders. So a breed guess is just that...a guess. Also while we do our best to assess personality and temperaments, an animal may behave completely differently for you at home then it did for us. Animals, like people, can be unpredictable!

Adopting a friend

Adopting a pet is a huge responsibility and a lifetime commitment! Please make sure you have really thought about it and are prepared!! Call or e-mail to set up an interview to determine if you meet our qualifications (and we meet yours) and schedule a visit. Animals are adopted out as housepets only! All other pets in the home must be spayed or neutered and declawing is not allowed. After you've picked a new best friend you will be asked to sign an adoption contract. Adoption donation varies per pet and circumstances....................................... **NOTE TO ADOPTERS...PLEASE READ**.................................. Lassie, Rin Tin Tin ,Toto and Morris don't show up in Rescue. We don't get the elegantly coiffed, classically beautiful, completely trained, perfectly behaved pet. We get the leftovers. Pets that other people have incompetently bred, inadequately socialized, ineffectively "trained," and badly treated. Most Rescue pets have had it. They've been pushed from one lousy situation to another. They've never had proper veterinary care, kind and consistent training, or sufficient company. They've lived outside, in a crate, or in the basement. They're scared, depressed and anxious. Some are angry. Some are sick. Some have given up. But we are Rescue and we don't give up. We never give up on an animal. We know that a pet is a living being, with a spirit and a heart and feelings. Our pets are not commodities, things, or garbage. They are part of sacred creation and they deserve as much love and care and respect as the next Westminster champion. So please, please don't come to rescue in the hopes of getting a "bargain," or indeed of "getting" anything. Come to Rescue to give, to love, to save a life -- and to mend your own spirit. For Rescue will reward you in ways you never thought possible. I can promise you this -- a rescue pet will make you a better person. ( By Diane Morgan, reprinted with permission )
