Altered Feral State
Altered Feral State needs more volunteers to help clean, love on and play with the cats and kittens at PetSmart in Bethlehem/Winder, Georgia.
PetSmart in Bethlehem/Winder has asked us to keep some of our cats and kittens in house (at the store) so we can do 7 day a week adoptions. This has been a great partnership with PetSmart as our kids are finding their forever homes every day of the week.
If you would like to volunteer a couple hours a week to clean and play with the kids please contact us at email@example.com
put in the subject line Volunteer/PetSmart.
We are also looking for loving Foster homes in the Barrow, Walton, Rockdale counties that can foster mama cats with their kittens, cats that are in transition, kittens, if you do not have cats in your house but love cats that's great also, sometimes a cat or kitten become sick and we need them in a home with no cats. Please call if you are interested
Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org !
We are a TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) group. We do not take in Cats and Kittens you have and need to get homes for. Please contact shelters and rescue groups that do this kind of work
The cats/kittens in our shelter come from
TNR projects, these cats/kittens joined a feral group to survive but are not wild, so we try to help them get homes.
We also pull cats and kittens from animal control when we can and have room
. Thank you.
We Need Your Help...
Dear Friends of Altered Feral State,
In order for our organization to continue these programs and to fulfill our core mission efforts of TNR (trap-neuter-return) that our late founder & director started, we need your help. We could always use clumping litter, bleach, papertowels, and of course money donations.
We are also in great need of Volunteer's to clean and play with the cats we have at PetSmart in Bethlehem/Winder, Georgia.
Consider adopting one or more of our cats. We have so many great cats that need your help in finding their forever home. Many of the cats that live at our shelter are semi-feral and need loving families that understand their personalities and needs. Don’t let the word ‘feral’ worry you, these cats are not mean or aggressive, simply they are shy and somewhat stand-offish. They need the love and care of someone with patience to work with them to help their true personalities shine through.
Spread the word! If you are unable to make a donation or adopt a cat, you can still be a huge help just by helping to spread the word! Like us on FaceBook and share our story with your animal loving friends.

It's ALWAYS KITTEN SEASON - COME TO PETSMART!!!...
Come meet the kids at PetSmart in Bethlehem/Winder, GA 7 days a week. Our cats are located in the Cat care isle in their own secure room. We're sure you'll find just the right one to be your very best friend.
Your tax deductible donations help us with the cost of TNR of the adult cats and the on-going care of the kittens we vet for adoptions. Every $35 you donate, enables us to spay or neuter and vaccinate an adult feral cat. Please donate today
With funding from YOUR tax-deductible donations, we can assist caregivers through TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) and find the wonderful homes for the adoptable cats and kittens we remove from the colonies. TNR is the only non-lethal, proven and effective method to reduce the feral cat population through sterilization and vaccination.
Feral cat colonies can get out of hand very quickly if the cats are not spayed or neutered. We have to do our rescue efforts BEFORE the cats are taken to an animal control shelter. Once they’re at a shelter, there isn’t anything that can be done to help. Adult feral cats are simply not adoptable, and there are no resources to relocate them. The result is that virtually 100% of feral cats taken to animal control will be euthanized.
Who We Are
Altered Feral State is a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit organization made up of volunteers dedicated to reducing the feral cat population through the only non-lethal method that is proven to work. That method is known as TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return).
What is a feral cat? A feral cat is an unsocialized cat who avoids human contact. Either it was born outside and never lived with a human family, or it is a pet cat that has strayed from home, and over time, has thrown off the effects of domestication and reverted to a wild state. When pet cats are forced to fend for themselves because they are abandoned or accidentally lost, huge numbers die from exposure, starvation or accidents. The survivors often turn feral and, if they are not sterilized, give birth to feral kittens. The cycle continues.
Feral is not another word for “stray”. A stray is a cat who has been abandoned or who has strayed from home and become lost. Stray cats can usually be re-socialized and adopted. Adult feral cats usually can't be socialized and won’t adjust to living indoors or with a human family. Stray cats will often take up with feral cats in an effort to survive. Maybe you’ve seen them behind restaurants or in an alley or park. Quite possibly you’ve seen them in your own backyard. Feral (wild) cats live everywhere, forming colonies wherever they find scraps of food and a bit of shelter, be it in dumpsters, in the woods near business and residents, or in a park.. Tens of millions of feral cats now live in the U.S.
