/ Oh yes. I am the newest member of Team Orange looking for a home. I am Alfie, a playful youngster who arrived here solo. I love to play with the other cats here and really enjoy attention from all the human visitors who stop by. Have you heard that orange cats are really sweet? I definitely add credence to that argument. I am a strong personality and will definitely dominate the room-any room-given the chance! If you are looking to add a little whirlwind of love to your family, I may be the guy for you. You can meet me Wednesday through Sunday at the Humane Society of South Brevard, just off US1 north of the Pineda Causeway in Melbourne. We open at noon and close at 4pm (Sundays at 3pm) and recommend you come with your own carrier-because if you think you may be serious about adoption, you will definitely find your match here!

The Humane Society of South Brevard is an independently-run, non-profit, no-kill animal shelter. We DO NOT euthanize ANY animal unless their quality of life would suffer due to major medical problems. Our cats are free to roam inside our facility. We always strive to provide individual attention to all of our animals until they can be placed in caring, loving, lifetime homes. We have provided this service since 1978. In the unlikely event you find the pet you have adopted does not quite fit into your family, we will always take our cats back.
We take in cats on a pre-arranged basis only. Since we are a no kill shelter we do not "make room" for new cats. As we adopt and have space available we take in more.

We DO NOT receive any federal, state or county funding. With only several hundred members, dues do not come close to covering what we spend on the animals. Fortunately, several members have left bequests to our Society and this has enabled us to continue our great work. Please remember the animals when you prepare your will. We have a generous donation offer from a local attorney who specializes in wills and trusts. Amy Van Fossen can plan your living will and trust and will donate 5% of your total costs to us! You may reach her at 321-345-5945. And remember, there are organizations with similar names, so please be specific in naming the Humane Society of South Brevard, Inc. We depend solely on your kindness.

And now to interrupt your reading with a Happy Tail...

Hi Friends! My name is Catch and I am soooo lucky to be here at the Humane Society of South Brevard! A woman phoned here and told the nice people that I was alone in my house without any food. The lady had the key to the house but was petrified of cats and could not come in-even though I would not hurt a flea, if I had any, which I don't. When the Humane Society ladies came, they found I had only a loaf of bread to eat for 5 days and had to drink from the toilet bowl. It was like being in kitty jail! I was kind of scared when the ladies put me in a carrier and took me out to the car, but they were really nice. We went right to the doctor so he could check me out. He said I was in good shape, not dehydrated or anything. The doc thought I was handsome and I think the ladies did, too. So we had to get me neutered ( what ever that means; they won't tell me-but I cannot remember a day about a week ago and have been feeling really mellow ever since). And I know I had my shots and got a microchip, so now I am ready to find a new home. I was given a second chance for a great life-and am so sweet and loving with everyone who comes to see me; I am the most grateful cat in the room! Five years young, I would make a terrific addition to your family. Give us a call at 321-259-0601 and ask about the best time to stop by. UPDATE! The wonderful Catch caught himself an equally wonderful forever home! Yaaaaaay for Catch!

We currently have many wonderful cats available for adoption. The fee is $75.00. This fee includes feline leukemia and FIV tests, microchip, spaying or neutering, rabies and feline distemper vaccines, and deworming. WE DO NOT adopt to homes that declaw or let their cats outside. It is against the law in Brevard Co. for your cat to run loose and of course there are many dangerous things they can get into outdoors. .

We also have a foster program to help with our unadoptable cats, for a small fee of $8.00 per month we will send you a picture and bio of the cat of your choice and of course you can come and visit anytime. This helps defray the cost of caring for these cats that will spend their lives with us. For more information please call 321-259-0601 HOW YOU CAN HELP There are many ways you can help our organization. Here's how.

Here are some of the items WE NEED MOST: PAPER TOWELS , WE NEED FILE CABINETS, ANY SIZE Also canned cat and kitten food and dry kitten food, Purina One adult and kitten dry food and cat litter, scoopable. Although there are many good animal care groups in Brevard County, and we support any and all sincere efforts to care for unwanted, abused and neglected animals, we want you to know there are differences. If you have any questions about our policies or mission, please contact us with your questions. We will be more than happy to answer them for you.
