OUR PET LIST

       Victor

They call me mellow yellowww...actually they call me Victor. Hello there, I am Victor, a handsome guy who was born here when my mom Violet was brought in pregnant. I am the only one left from her litter and and have been waiting for a home for what seems like forever. You can see me as a small kitten in my second picture, but now am a grownup big lunk of love. My favorite thing is when someone notices me and gives me chin scritches. But as often happens here, youngsters have come and gone and some of the truly best souls get overlooked. Everyone who meets me can't believe I am still here-since I have been here my entire life, we know my complete history and personality and I would do very well in a home of my own. I haven't really bonded with any of the other paws here but I don't mind them either. And even when I am up in the "special" room with slightly difficult cat personalities romping around, I just sit tight and wait for someone to glance my way. Almost surprised when I am noticed, you can actually see in my eyes how hopeful I am. I don't like it when someone lunges at me-although mellow I just haven't been around tons of different people so should go to a home without small kids. Everyone would really love to see me find the perfect home. Healthy and oh so handsome, I am just chilling here, knowing someone is out there for me. Please give me a call at 321-259-0601. You can come and meet me Wednesday through Sunday between noon and 4pm (just until 3pm on Sundays).

WHO WE ARE

The Humane Society of South Brevard is an independently-run, non-profit, no-kill animal shelter. We DO NOT euthanize ANY animal unless their quality of life would suffer due to major medical problems. Our cats are free to roam inside our facility. We always strive to provide individual attention to all of our animals until they can be placed in caring, loving, lifetime homes. We have provided this service since 1978. In the unlikely event you find the pet you have adopted does not quite fit into your family, we will always take our cats back.
We take in cats on a pre-arranged basis only. Since we are a no kill shelter we do not "make room" for new cats. As we adopt and have space available we take in more.

BEQUESTS

We DO NOT receive any federal, state or county funding. With only several hundred members, dues do not come close to covering what we spend on the animals. Fortunately, several members have left bequests to our Society and this has enabled us to continue our great work. Please remember the animals when you prepare your will. We have a generous donation offer from a local attorney who specializes in wills and trusts. Amy Van Fossen can plan your living will and trust and will donate 5% of your total costs to us! You may reach her at 321-345-5945. And remember, there are organizations with similar names, so please be specific in naming the Humane Society of South Brevard, Inc. We depend solely on your kindness.

And now to interrupt your reading with a Happy Tail...

Hi Friends! My name is Catch and I am soooo lucky to be here at the Humane Society of South Brevard! A woman phoned here and told the nice people that I was alone in my house without any food. The lady had the key to the house but was petrified of cats and could not come in-even though I would not hurt a flea, if I had any, which I don't. When the Humane Society ladies came, they found I had only a loaf of bread to eat for 5 days and had to drink from the toilet bowl. It was like being in kitty jail! I was kind of scared when the ladies put me in a carrier and took me out to the car, but they were really nice. We went right to the doctor so he could check me out. He said I was in good shape, not dehydrated or anything. The doc thought I was handsome and I think the ladies did, too. So we had to get me neutered ( what ever that means; they won't tell me-but I cannot remember a day about a week ago and have been feeling really mellow ever since). And I know I had my shots and got a microchip, so now I am ready to find a new home. I was given a second chance for a great life-and am so sweet and loving with everyone who comes to see me; I am the most grateful cat in the room! Five years young, I would make a terrific addition to your family. Give us a call at 321-259-0601 and ask about the best time to stop by.

It is against the law in Brevard Co. for your cat to run loose and of course there are many dangerous things they can get into outdoors. .
