Who We Are

We are a non-profit, NO-KILL, limited intake animal shelter that provides a safe, loving temporary home for the unwanted, homeless and abandoned animals in our community; while promoting steriliztion to achieve a NO-KILL society and hopefully to see one day a NO-KILL NATION.
Every SPCA member, and volunteer has extreme compassion for all of the animals in our care.
The animals here are in need of, and deserve their forever families. The SPCA also needs people from our community to come and volunteer at the shelter, or help with fundraising events. A little compassion goes a long way when it comes to helping an animal in need!

Our Featured Pet...

Our featured pet(s) for February are any of our older or "mature" cats or dogs that have been residents of our shelter way too long. Please consider one of these wonderful animals. Dogs and cats over a year old deserve a home just as much as a puppy or kitten; and make great pets. Older dogs are very trainable and bond quickly to new owners. Please consider one of our older animals.

We also have set up a 2ND CHANCE FUND THROUGH BB&T BANK. This fund was established in order to give necessary medical treatment to animals that need more than we can afford, but deserve a "2ND CHANCE". It is named after a very special puppy who stole our hearts with his determination to live and fight and grow and be a normal puppy. Won't you please donate to this special fund, so adoptable pets can get the special care they need, instead of just being disgarded as defective? Call the Shelter at (352) 596-7000 for more info on the 2nd Chance Fund.
