I wanted to share our story about how fostering dogs that were in desperate need of saving has changed our lives…...
Two years ago, I began my search for a playmate for our 2 year old Labrador Retriever Mia Bella. Through my search, I learned about all of the unwanted animals that were abandoned or stray, due to the overpopulation of pets that were never neutered or spayed particularly in the South. I learned that there was an entire network of volunteers from every state helping to place these animals that would otherwise meet certain death. These volunteers created these rescue organizations which include coordinating transportation, finding temporary foster homes for these animals, and ultimately, the main goal, finding them a new forever home.
After a few months of searching, we found our Rani, a very timid, beautiful Shepherd/Lab/Whippet mix. She has enriched our lives so much and she and Mia became very close. A year after we adopted Rani, I was on the search again for a smaller male dog to complete our canine family. This is how I met Claudia. There was a dog that I was interested in listed on her site. I filled out an application and through the process we ended up talking, emailing and meeting and I became one of her foster homes over the past summer. I know that our family truly helped save the lives of these dogs that ended up in our care. What a wonderful and rewarding experience for us all to share as a family. It came with a lot of hard work and perseverance. We got to see them learn and grow right before our eyes, and then, sadly a bittersweet goodbye would follow. We are lucky enough to get updates and pictures and we know they will always hold a special place in our hearts.
I shared my experience in hopes that maybe there were others out there with a little spare time, a little extra room and a lot of love in their hearts to consider becoming a foster for our rescue organization. I know that it certainly made a difference in my life and in the lives of those who adopted one of our wonderful pets!! If you are interested, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org

One by one, they pass my cage. Too old, too worn, too broken , no way. Way past his time, he can't run and play. Then they shake their heads slowly and go on their way. A little old man, arthritic and sore. It seems I am not wanted anymore. I once had a home, I once had a bed, a place that was warm, and where I was fed. Now my muzzle is grey, and my eyes slowly fail. Who wants a dog so old and frail? My family decided I didn't belong, I got in their way, my attitude was wrong. Whatever excuse they made in their head, can't justify how they left me for dead. Now I sit in this cage, where day after day, the younger ones get adopted away. When I had almost come to the end of my rope, you saw my face and I finally had hope. You saw through the gray, and the legs bent with age, and I felt I still had life beyond this cage. You took me home, gave me food and a bed, and shared your own pillow with my poor tired head. We snuggle and play, and you talk to me low, you love me so dearly, you want me to know. I may have lived most of my life with another, but you outshine them with a love so much stronger. And I promise to return all the love I can give, to you, my dear person, as long as I live. I may be with you a week or for years. We will share many smiles, you will no doubt shed tears. And when the time comes that God deems I must leave, I know you will cry, and your heart, it will grieve, and when I arrive at the Bridge, all brand new, my thoughts and my heart will still be with you. And I will brag to all who will hear, of the person who made my last days so dear......
Who We Are
We are a group of dedicated rescue volunteers. Our mission is to find furever homes for wonderful dogs and cats. All of our rescue pets are home fostered in special homes where they can be evaluated and medically checked put before the search for their furever home can begin. We match the right dog to the right home. It is not first come first served. Completing an application for adoption does not guarantee that you will be allowed to adopt one of our rescue pets. We look for the best home. Please be patient with us. This process can take a few weeks from app to adoption. Please keep in mind that we are volunteers and that we will get back to you as soon as we possibly can.
Adopting a friend
All of our rescue pets are fully vetted as age appropriate. If old enough they will be spayed and neutered before going to their new homes. We will require an adoption application, a vet check and a home visit. There is an adoption fee for each adoption. This varies on age and needs of the pet, but will range from $250 to $400 for a fully vetted, spayed/neutered adult.
Come Visit Us!
We do not have a shelter. All of our adoptable pets are in loving, foster homes. Appointments are at mutual convenience between the adopters and the foster families.
