Even More Dogs are on our website at

Many of the breeds you may be looking for will not show up under our petfinder site because they are still located in the south. If you go to, you will see even more beautiful dogs who are patiently waiting for their forever home.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are interested in a dog you must e-mail the contact on each dogs petfinder page

Who We Are

Inspired by their own rescued dogs, two sisters decided to establish a rescue group in the northeast for the thousands of dogs who are euthanized daily. We have a network of volunteers from both the south and north who work tirelessly to save these wonderful companions. Southern volunteers pull dogs from high kill shelters while considering their personality, health, and overall temperament. While the northern volunteers facilitate the actual adoptions and getting the dogs up north safely. Our goal is to find homes for dogs who have either been abandoned, neglected or abused.

Double Dog Rescue's mission is to help alleviate the massive problem of pet over population. Our volunteers are inundated with outstanding dogs and adorable puppies that otherwise would be euthanized in local shelters. It is a deeply saddening fact that dogs and puppies are euthanized in a matter of days for no other reason than simply lack of space, lack of compassion and no regulating laws. To learn more about how we transport our dogs from the south to the north, please visit

Our dogs are fostered in homes throughout the south and New England area. We do not have a central facility that you can visit to see our dogs. We are a strictly volunteer group that works together to save dogs and we are scattered across the area. We welcome visits between adopters and dogs but do be aware that they may be located in any number of states. If you have questions about a dog, please contact the volunteer listed on the dog's bio on petfinder. We receive numerous e-mails everyday while working full-time jobs, so please be patient.

Adopting a friend

If you are interested in adopting one of our furry friends we ask that you complete an application (which we will forward to you) or download one from our website. We also require a vet reference check and a home visit when possible. Some of our dogs require fenced in yards while others do not. IMPORTANT: The volunteer listed with each dog is the only person who can give you information about that dog.

Save a Life. Recycle a dog. Foster today!

Volunteers are always needed. If you and your family would like to be a part of our organization, becoming a foster family is a wonderful way to help. Typical foster period is 1-2 months.

Double Dog Rescue is in urgent need of short term foster homes. If you are able to offer a dog a loving, temporary home environment until the dog is placed in their forever home, you literally will be saving a dogs life! If you are able to open your heart and home to one of our dogs we need you!
