Pet Lost & Found
Lost pets are brought to Longmont Humane Society by private citizens, as well as animal control officers serving the City of Longmont and the towns of Lyons, Frederick, Firestone, Mead, and Dacono. Every effort is made to reunite these animals with their families.
The LHS adoption program seeks to place animals in permanent, caring homes. Each adoption includes behavior evaluation, spaying or neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, a no-cost veterinary examination, extensive care information, a lifetime of complimentary behavioral consultation, and discounted training classes for dogs. Adoption fees vary according to age and size of the animal. We offer a reduced rate to seniors adopting senior animals.
Foster Care Program
Our dedicated foster families provide in-home care to incoming animals who would not thrive in a shelter environment. These pets are not yet ready for adoption due to illness, age, or lack of socialization.
Longmont Humane Society partners with community members. Our network of volunteers, ages 8 and up, assist by walking dogs, visiting with cats, and socializing the animals in our care.
Dog Training Classes
Longmont Humane Society provides training classes for humans and their companion dogs and puppies, as well as workshops in basic manners and behaviors.
Through various forms of media, Longmont Humane Society helps local citizens learn more about animals. Skilled shelter staff are available to answer questions regarding many specific pet concerns. The LHS web site at www.longmonthumane.org offers extensive information about the humane society and a "virtual kennel" with photos of pets currently available for adoption.
Low Cost Veterinary Care
Our on-site Well Pet Clinic offers reduced-cost spay and neuter services, dental care, general surgery, digital x-rays, vaccinations, microchipping, and more. Drop-ins and doctor appointments are available.
City Pet Licensing
Longmont Humane Society contracts with the City of Longmont to provide licenses to all residents for dogs, cats, and potbellied pigs.
