The Valley Humane League is a no-kill animal shelter in Alamosa, CO. We serve to house lost and abandoned dogs, provide emergency vet care, adopt out or transfer dogs to their forever homes, reunite lost dogs with their owners, education the community, and provide a spay/neuter program.
We are a very small shelter located in the pet-overpopulated and financially limited San Luis Valley. Our kennels are almost always full of dogs in need of homes, veterinary care, or time to heal from abusive or neglectful pasts. When our shelter is full we are very fortunate for some angels that transfer dogs to other shelters and foster networks in Northern Colorado, so that we can avoid euthanasia.
Running this small, but impactful shelter can be expensive. We only have one full-time and two part-time paid staff members to keep the shelter running, therefore we rely on community volunteers and donations to stay afloat. Please visit our website at www.valleyhumaneleague.weebly.com or find us on Facebook for more information!
Adopters are encouraged to come visit The Valley Humane League and meet the pet(s) of their choice. Adopters are required to fill out an application, pay a small adoption fee, and participate in our spay/neuter program.
