Who We Are
The Clear Creek/Gilpin Co. Animal Shelter ("Charlie's Place") is a County-owned and managed animal shelter located in Dumont, CO, 40 minutes west of Denver. We have dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes waiting for homes to call their own. All of our animals are spayed and neutered and are current on their vaccinations.
Adopting a Friend
The adoption fee for dogs is $75 and for cats is $60. The adoption fees include spay/neuter, vaccinations, including Rabies, Heartworm testing (dogs), microchips (dogs) and Leukemia/FIV testing (cats).
--Either own or be renting a permanent residence (i.e. house, condominium, mobile home, etc.).
--Be at least 21 years of age; 25 to adopt a Pit Bull Terrier.
--Have a current I. D. or Driver's License showing current age and address.
--Be willing and able to provide adequate training, necessary medical care and loving attention to an adopted pet.
Please understand that the Clear Creek/Gilpin County Animal Shelter reserves the right to deny any application for adoption.
The shelter needs volunteers to:
--Sit with dogs
--Help with fundraising events
--Care for cats
--Help keep the shelter clean
--Help socialize dogs and cats
--Foster special needs animals

Come Visit Us!
The Shelter is open Wed..-Sun., 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
Directions: Take I70 to the 234 (Downieville) exit if coming from the West, or the 235 (Dumont) exit if coming from the East. Cross the Dumont bridge over I70 and head right on the frontage road for 1/2 mile. The shelter is at the end of the road.
