Adopting a dog from us, regardless of breed or mix, is much like adopting a child.
The first step in starting the adoption is to fill out an application, providing all of the information requested. PLEASE EMAIL TO GET AN APPLICATION. After that, information will be verified, telephone conferences held, references checked, and home visits done.
After an adopter is approved, arrangements will be made to meet with available dogs.
We also network with other rescues in Colorado and adjacent states. If we do not have the right dog for you, one of them may. Our application allows the adopter to give permission to share it with other established rescuers that we know.
Applications may be requested via email or with a name and mailing address or fax number.
We require an adoption contract and a donation to offset the veterinary expenses incurred for our rescues. The amount varies depending on whether the dog is purebred, mix, Notweiler, or special needs and in any event, never covers our expenses in saving these beautiful animals.
A formal obedience training set of classes is recommended even if the dog already knows basic commands. If the adopter goes further and gets a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certificate for the dog, a partial refund of the adoption donation will be made.
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, HW negative and on preventative, and microchipped. Adopters, are given copies of all of their veterinary records which they have since they came into our rescue.
PLEASE CONTACT US BY EMAIL. Often we are not able to return calls during reasonable hours.
