San Diego Special Needs Rescue

Our Adoptable Pets

We are an all-volunteer rescue group that operates strictly on public support. Therefore, all donations go directly to the care of the animals.

At this time I'm not accepting any Special Needs Pets. I am only doing COURTESY LISTINGS

Adopting an animal is a life-long commitment!!!!! Please consider this before adopting.

The process to adopt begins with an application. Adoption applications can be emailed, faxed, or snail mailed to you at your request. Just contact us and we'd be happy to give you more information about a pet and send you an adoption application. Once the application is received, and we feel that you are a match for the dog, a volunteer will schedule a home visit to go over your application and to talk to you about adoption in general. A filled out application does not mean that you will be able to adopt the dog. We do not operate on first come first serve basis. We adopt to the family or person that we feel is the best match for the pet. It is our policy to not adopt to families with children under 12 years of age. We perform routine home checks prior to adoption, require adoption contracts and fees, and make it our policy to be a valuable resource for adopters for the life of the relationship. After all, adopting a dog is a life-long commitment. We want to be there to help.

Who We Are

San Diego Special Needs Rescue is dedicated to rescuing small dogs from life-threatening situations. All of our dogs were either in danger of being euthanized in animal shelters, neglected or abused, or taken from the public (when space permits) so they are not bounced around to different homes or collected and sold to research labs by "bunchers."

Health News

All of San Diego Special Needs dogs are spayed or neutered, brought current on vaccinations, heartworm tested, given dentals if needed, microchipped, and given comprehensive health examinations prior to their placement in responsible and loving homes. Our screening and placement procedures speak to a high standard, as it is our goal to ensure a quality match between dog and guardian.

Some of our pets just need a loving home. Others need a home with special owners who are willing to deal with their medical problems. Regardless of what their problem is, we need Special Homes or Fosters to care of these wonderful pets. Won't you consider helping one of these pets. There are wonderful support groups to help with any questions you may have. All animals can cope with a disability as proven with Buddy's story. Please consider one of our Special Needs pets. It's a rewarding experience.

Come Visit Us!

We do not have a shelter or kennel. We place the dogs in wonderful and compassionate foster homes so they may begin to develop exceptional house behavior. We protect the privacy of these foster homes as much as possible.
