Basset Hound Rescue of Southern California

Our Adoptable Pet List

Basset Hound Rescue of Southern California (BHRSC) offers sanctuary, healing and forever families to distressed, abandoned, injured or homeless hounds.

We work to raise funds to save as many hounds as possible and constantly thrive to grow our network of volunteers and foster homes.

BHRSC found forever homes for 61 since since January 1, 2016.

Where is Basset Hound Rescue of Southern California? We use foster homes across Southern California including Los Angeles County, Orange County, Ventura County, Riverside County, and the Inland Empire.

Why donate to BHRSC?

We strive to never turn away a hound in need. However, rescue is very costly. Your donations are critical in that we must have cash on hand so we can quickly provide each and every hound that comes to BHRSC with the critical care that he needs and deserves.

Expenses add up quickly for a rescued hound. On average, it costs $850.00 to take a hound from homeless to a Forever Home. For hounds that arrive at BHRSC with multiple medical issues, the cost is far higher.

BHRSC operates with the support of an all-volunteer staff so every dollar donated goes directly to rescuing and re-homing hounds in need. The generous support of our donors enables us to provide hounds with much needed care that will make them adoptable and ready for their new Forever Homes.

We would be unable to help so many other hounds in need, without your generous support.

Why Adopt from BHRSC?

When you adopt from BHRSC, you can be assured that the hound you adopt has been assessed for overall health and that any identified medical conditions have been treated.

Once a BHRSC hound is placed with a foster family, each hound is evaluated to determine likes, dislikes, and unique qualities. This information will assist BHRSC to match your family with a hound that suits your lifestyle and home environment.

Adoption is a wonderful way to open your heart and home to a homeless hound. When you adopt from BHRSC, you give a homeless hound a well-deserved fresh start on life one filled with love, healthy meals, tummy rubs, and a warm, cozy place to sleep!

Why Foster for BHRSC?

Boarding services are a significant expense. In fact, our boarding expense in 2014 was $40,828! When you foster, you keep a hound out of boarding and you enable BHRSC to redirect funds toward saving more hounds!

Fostering is a rewarding experience and saves COUNTLESS lives. A homeless animal is a suffering animal, regardless of the circumstances that led him or her there. Hounds need real homes where they can recover, build confidence, socialize, and return to the world healed and ready for their forever homes.

BHRSC works very hard not to kennel. Fosters have our undying gratitude, deepest respect and admiration. There are never enough foster homes to go around, so each is precious to us and to the hounds that are lucky enough to be placed.
