Adopting A Friend
Our goal for all adoptions is to ensure the adopter and the new pet are a good match for each another.
To help us find your perfect pet, please come prepared to:
Spend adequate time getting to know the animal before making a decision.
Be certain pets are allowed in your home or apartment.
Commit to being a responsible pet owner and be willing to give your new pet a permanent home.
Bring in and introduce any dog(s) already in your home if you are adopting a new pet.
Bring all family/household members to the shelter to meet the animal before adoption.
Show your driver's license or California ID card.
Complete adoption application--available online for download. Paperwork takes about 15 minutes.
Pay all adoption fees. Fees can only be paid by credit card or cash. We do not accept checks.
Plan enough time to complete the Adoption Process which can last up to 1-2 hours.
Every Adoption Includes:
Pre-Adoption Vet Exam/Bloodwork for Club Second Chance Cats & Dogs
Initial Vaccines & roundworm treatment
Microchip insertion & microchip registration
Post-adoption vet exam at our clinic
Temporary leash and collar or cardboard cat carrier
Discounted dog training classes
Adoption Holds: A 24-hour hold can be placed on adoptable animals to allow for introductions to pets and people in the adopting household. Holds can only be placed by a member of the household who has visited with the animal in person--not by phone or email. The nonrefundable $25.00 hold fee is applied to the adoption fee, if the animals aren’t adopted; it is treated as a donation.
