Adopting A Friend

THE ADOPTION PROCESS

We place our adoptable dogs in the most appropriate homes.  We endeavor to learn everything we can about the animals in our care.  We then combine that with the information you've shared with us about you and your family, and try and match canine and human personalities.  We will address all of your concerns about adopting a new pet, and we will also make sure all the important questions are considered, in an attempt to match you with an animal that will be the best suited for you and your lifestyle.  We work hard to make every adoption a wonderful, successful experience.   All adoptions are done through an application process and a contract will be established between you and the rescue.  You must be 18 years old to adopt a dog.  There will be other criteria you must meet prior to adopting an animal from Sutter Buttes Canine Rescue.  Our volunteers are happy to help you with any questions or concerns you may have

Who We Are

Sutter Buttes Canine Rescue is an independent donor supported 501 (c)3 non-profit organization, run by committed volunteers.  We are a No-Kill Shelter.  We provide care for abandoned and homeless animals until placed into permanent homes.  We are dedicated to providing humane treatment and quality of life for the animals.  To date, we have placed over 5,000 animals into loving, permanent homes.

OUR MISSION

  • Control the over-population of canines in our area, by spaying and neutering all animals before being released by the rescue.
  • To educate the public on the importance of vaccinating and altering their pets.
  • To work closely with local animal shelters to help place adoptable dogs.
  • To network with other rescues and exchange information on adopting certain breeds
  • To provide a very necessary service to homeless and abandoned canines in the three surrounding communities that otherwise is not available.

The primary objective and purpose of this organization is to:

  • Establish and maintain a shelter that provides a safe environment for homeless and abandoned dogs and puppies.
  • To spay, neuter, vaccinate and provide any medical attention the animal needs while staying at the rescue.
  • To place our canines in safe, loving, and permanent homes with responsible pet owners.
  • To accomplish all of the above within 30 days of the animal arriving, due to the fact that Sutter Buttes Canine Rescue is not a sanctuary.
