The Los Banos Volunteers for Animals is looking for more volunteers to help out in many ways. Do you have some extra time or room to foster? We accept donations of food, bedding and funding for our spay/neuter program. We would love to hear from you!
Please remember, help us make our jobs obsolete-SPAY & NEUTER your pets! You can help to reduce unwanted animal populations by sponsoring a spay or neuter. The Los Banos Volunteers for Animals has started a new program - Sponsor a Spay (or Neuter!). This program is available to low income families to help eliminate unwanted litters. For more information, email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Los Banos Volunteers for Animals was founded on March 3, 1999 by an independent group of dedicated volunteers who provide auxiliary care for the animals as well as administrative duties for the Los Banos Police Department Animal Shelter.
The Shelter houses animals within the City limits that are either strays running loose on the streets or owner surrenders. The Shelter holds animals for a 5 day period and then they are put up for adoption, sent to a rescue, or possibly euthanized.
Our volunteers invest a number of hours per day helping to manage adoptions, and assisting in the care of the animals, including medical care and treatments. Due to severe budget cuts over the last few years by the City of Los Banos, much of the administrative and physical labor is also handled by our volunteers.
We are here to help the animals who have no voice of their own. We work to save as many as we can by networking with other rescues and other shelters. We have greatly reduced the euthanasia rate for the Shelter and it is our goal to bring it down to single digit percentages. This will be achieved primarily through educating the public about spaying and neutering and promoting responsible pet ownership.
