About Us

Today, many Bullies love and are loved by their families. Unfortunately, many more will lose their lives at the gentle hands of a shelter worker who couldn’t possibly find good homes for them all.

Did you know that almost a third of all the dogs coming through the animal shelter system in the Valley are Pit bulls? Yes, you read it right; approximately 20,000 Pit bulls will find themselves in a shelter every year. Most of them are good dogs in need of a loving home.

Pit bulls are intelligent, precocious, and athletic dogs that will do nearly anything asked of them.  Although wonderful companions, most Pit bulls are not for beginners; these are dogs that need an experienced and well-informed owner who is ready to make a commitment. They need a kind but firm caretaker that can funnel their gleeful zest for life through exercise, training, and service.

These dogs will return your care and attention ten-fold; they will always be loving and devoted to their families, they will will make you laugh and show you affection always.

Adopting A Friend

To adopt a Big Bully Rescue dog, an application for adoption will need to be completed. If the application indicates a match for the dog, we will offer a meet and greet. The last step in the adoption process is a home check.

We do NOT ship dogs, we do NOT adopt out of state. If you live in an apartment, you will be required to provide written proof of acceptance of the dog.

If you would like to receive an application for adoption, please go to our website at www.bigbullyrescue.com and download the application, complete the application and email the application to us for our review. If your application indicates a possible match, we will contact you for a meet and greet. If you have specific questions regarding a dog or our process, we are happy to answer your questions. Who We Are

Big Bully Rescue is a small organization and group of friends dedicated to rescuing and re-homing bully type breeds. We strive to help these breeds obtain a positive image through education despite the image that the general public has of them do to misinformation and media sensationalism. We advocate spay/neuter and responsible ownership, as well as battling backyard breeding, dog fighting, and inhumane treatment of these wonderful dogs.

We advocate responsible dog ownership and compassion for bully type breeds.

Please note, in addition to dog rescue, we do have full time jobs, so please be patient in waiting for your application to be reviewed or for us to return an email. Thank you~

Our dogs are rescued from the euthanasia lists from various shelters, or from the streets. We rarely take owner turn-ins. However, in certain circumstances acceptance of an owner turn in may be considered.
We are also willing to offer assistance and/or provide knowledge of what may happen to your bully breed should he/she be turned into the shelter.

The breeds we rescue:

American Bulldogs, Old English Bulldogs, Presa Canarios, Pitbulls, Bullmastiffs, Cane Corsos, Dogo Argentinos and Dogue de Bordeauxs.
BBR is a 501(c)(3) Non Profit organization dedicated to saving shelter, stray and abandoned bully breed dogs in the  Phoenix, Arizona area.
