Help support FAR in our efforts to save lives by Rescue, Care and Adoption of homeless cats and dogs.  We have re-homed over 1600 pets within the past 2 years. That is a lot of smiles and sloppy kisses.

Adopting A Friend

Adopting a pet at Foothills Animal Rescue is a simple process, and we have a dedicated staff of Adoption Counselors to help you through the procedure.

How to adopt at FAR:

  1. You can view our pets online or just stop in during our shelter hours.
  2. Get to know our pets. Enjoy our meet and greet room where you can spend individual time to play, pet or just sit with them.
  3. All family members or persons living in home must meet the potential dog or cat.  Dog introductions are also required to ensure that all get along.
  4. Talk with our adoption counselors about the pet- their personality, history at FAR, what to expect, etc.
  5. Once you've decided to adopt, our pets are able to go home usually that same day. They are already neutered/spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.
  6. Enjoy your lifetime of unconditional love.

Who We Are

Foothills Animal Rescue is a cage-free facility that rescues and provides adoptions for cats and dogs that are at-risk. We are a no-kill environment that is dedicated to finding lifelong homes for every pet. We collaborate with local and regional county agencies to rescue homeless pets as space becomes available. Foothills Animal Rescue (FAR) was organized in February 1995.

FAR assesses behavior, medical needs, grooms and treats conditions, as necessary, for all animalsl under our care. Every animal that leaves FAR is spayed or neutered; basic vaccinations; microchipped; treated for worms, fleas, ear mites and comes with a 30 day free pet insurance by ShelterCare. Dogs are tested for heartworm, tick fever and lyme disease. Cats are tested for feline leukemia virus and feline immunodeficiency virus. Tha

We have a shelter and foster based environment where our cats and dogs are provided with a temporary safe haven until we find a final home.
