Please keep in mind that adopting a dog that is in rescue is still saving a life, because when we are 'full' we cannot take the next dogs that are going to be euthanized because we won't have room.  Adopting a dog that is not 'urgent' is still saving the life of one that is.

We need good people to foster as well as adopt.

Ozark Dogs has been rescuing, vetting and then placing puppies and dogs since 2003. Our primary rescues are what we refer to as "field failures".  Great Pyrenees, Komondors and mixes of livestock guardian breeds that did not 'work' as the farmer felt they should.   They are often rescued from the inevitable bullet, socialized and placed as companion dogs.   Occasionally we will rescue and place German Shepherds, Saint Bernards, Newfoundlands and those of undistinguishable breed. Our goal is to do the very best for the dog. We feed quality food along with supplements.   We spay/neuter, provide immunizations, and de-worm. On adult dogs we test for Heartworm, Ehrlichia & Lymes to insure current health.  (Other testing or x-rays are done as needed). They are also micro-chipped and bathed before going to their forever home.

When needed, we socialize and work on basic training & housetraining .  Each adoption application is carefully reviewed to insure appropriate placement. Our priority is the welfare of the dog.  A family may be wonderful and perfect for many dogs but our decisions are based on matching the dog to the families dynamics and lifestyle and the love they have to offer.

You will find the link to our online adoption application on our website adoption page and also a link to the adoption agreement you would be asked to sign if approved. Adoption fees are not specified but we do ask a donation to help cover the ongoing cost for future rescued dogs.  Often times on older dogs going to senior citizens or the disabled, we even provide veterinarian care assistance.

It will be the adopters responsibility, both financially and logistically to get the dog or pup. We will assist in arrangements, however the ultimate burden rests on the adopter.  We do not use the large 65+ dog transports nor do we allow them to fly on commercial airlines.
