We at are pleased to present you with a Dog Rescue Award for excellence in providing underprivileged dogs a much valued resource. We take pride in acknowledging the best organizations around the country with our special award emblem, recognizing them for their outstanding work – the Etowah County Animal Shelter certainly qualifies as one of them.
Thank you for all the work you and your organization provides for dogs in need. We wish you the best in continuing your highly valued service.
We don't have an adoption fee. Once you are approved for adoption, you will have to go to your vet of choice and pre-pay for a spay/neuter and a rabies shot. I will give you a form that the vet will need to sign stating payment has been made and note the surgery date so I can follow up after surgery. Once I get that back you are free to take your new family member home with you!
Please keep in mind that in most cases, our animals have not been seen by a vet and we can't guarantee the health of the animal. We strive to place the seemingly healthy animals up for adoption. However, we suggest you take your new pet to the vet once you leave the shelter and have a check up and receive vaccinations.
Thank you for your interest in adopting from The Etowah County Animal Shelter. It is our mission to find each and every animal that comes into our shelter a home. You can be a big part of this process by adopting your new family member from us! Our animals come from various sources, such as stray animals or animals from private homes where the owner can no longer care for them. Many of them have been neglected or abandoned, but love can make a big difference in their lives.
Our adoption process is as follows:
1. Once you have found the pet that you just have to have, you will fill out an adoption application. After the application is reviewed and you are approved for adoption, you will then fill out an adoption contract.
2. Etowah County Animal Shelter makes no guarantees to the health of an animal as we have limited funds and can’t perform health checks or spay/neuters. Therefore, when you adopt an animal there is no fee to us. Instead, you will be required, upon approval, to take a form given to you by ECAS to your vet and prepay for a rabies shot and a spay/neuter surgery.
3. Once you have paid for and had your vet sign the form, then bring the form back to the shelter and we can release your new family member to you!
We appreciate your interest in our fine pets we have and we hope you find the perfect new addition to your family!
