The Mission of Hope's Rescue

Dog in a shelterHope's Rescue is a volunteer based organization located in Alabama dedicated to saving homeless and abandoned dogs from over crowded animal shelters. Hope's Rescue places non-aggressive dogs into temporary foster homes where they are socialized, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and treated for any medical or behavioral conditions limiting their adoptability. Hope's Rescue actively searches for permanent homes for its foster dogs by listing them on Petfinder.com and attending special events that provide exposure to potential adopters.

Founded in 2006, Hope's Rescue ultimate goal is to create a world where all companion animals have loving and permanent homes and where no good natured dogs, no matter what their age, are killed in shelters because they are considered to be surplus or unadoptable.

Hope's Rescue is an all-breed dog rescue founded by Shelly Hunt in 2006. The rescue group was named for her faithful basset hound "Hope" who was severely abused and neglected. Our rescue group is compromised of a handful of caring and compassionate families who believe all dogs deserve to live in a safe and loving home. Having volunteered and worked as board members for the local humane society, our group entered into a partnership with the animal shelter to assist with the adoption of healthy dogs. Our group retrieves dogs from the overcrowded shelter and provides any needed medical care then places them in foster homes to allow for socialization and behavior assessment.
